I have always adored this recipe…my husband even more!!! and now my children, well they can’t get enough of it!!! It’s been made for birthday cakes, afternoon treats, picnic essentials, trips to the beach, pregnancy cravings and we even had to take it to hospital with us when my first son was born (well, on my husbands demands, he needed it for energy levels apparently!!!) It really is that good and being so wonderfully easy to make and with no baking involved you can’t really go wrong. So here what you need to do…

what you need…

  • 200g digestive biscuitschocolate biscuit cake2
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 3 tablesspoons of golden syrup
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 50g raisins (optional)
  • 100g dark chocolate (you may not like dark chocolate BUT it works so much better than milk chocolate, not its usual bitter sharp taste, tasting delicious amongst the other ingredients
  • mixing bowl
  • saucepan
  • wooden spoon
  • measuring scales
  • 7 inch cake tin
  • grease proof paper

 

what to do…

  1. line the tin with grease proof paper
  2. place the biscuits into a bowl, you can break the up into small pieces using your hands or with a small rolling pin pummel them with one end
  3. melt the butter, golden syrup and chocolate pieces in a saucepan
  4. stir in the cocoa powder into the melted chocolate
  5. pour over the biscuits and add the raisins
  6. stir really well so everything is covered in melted deliciousness
  7. pour everything into the cake tin and level it out
  8. place in the fridge for about an hour, may need a little longer, depends how long you can keep from nibbling it
  9. remove from fridge and cut into squares
  10. errrrrrrr yum, possibly the most delicious yummy ‘ness you ever did taste…..
