Will you be my Valentine? using beautiful pressed roses for Valentines cards for a loved one…

what you need…

  • rose
  • heavy old books
  • paper
  • card
  • craft glue

what you do…

  1. this activity takes some preparation, you will need to have pressed the roses a while before wanting to make the card…so choose your roses carefully, cut the stem to size and place on a piece of paper. Place another piece of paper above and then place all in between some pages of a old heavy book. This book may need some weight on it too, so usually pop them back in the book shelf and let the pressing process work its magic…
  2. once your rose is beautifully pressed, remove carefully from the book
  3. using craft glue, carefully glue the rose onto a piece of card
  4. allow to dry and write your message of love

into a little dream adventure…

  • this is such a beautiful activity, so in the process of pressing flowers, press a whole variety so you can create stunning cards for any occasion
  • recognise the pressed flower you have chosen to use to make your card – look up facts alongside your child about the flower used – what is it’s name? what is it’s latin name? what colour are it’s petals? does it have a scent? what shape are the petals? can they write the name of the plant?
