Will you be my Valentine? using beautiful pressed roses for Valentines cards for a loved one…
what you need…
- rose
- heavy old books
- paper
- card
- craft glue
what you do…
- this activity takes some preparation, you will need to have pressed the roses a while before wanting to make the card…so choose your roses carefully, cut the stem to size and place on a piece of paper. Place another piece of paper above and then place all in between some pages of a old heavy book. This book may need some weight on it too, so usually pop them back in the book shelf and let the pressing process work its magic…
- once your rose is beautifully pressed, remove carefully from the book
- using craft glue, carefully glue the rose onto a piece of card
- allow to dry and write your message of love
into a little dream adventure…
- this is such a beautiful activity, so in the process of pressing flowers, press a whole variety so you can create stunning cards for any occasion
- recognise the pressed flower you have chosen to use to make your card – look up facts alongside your child about the flower used – what is it’s name? what is it’s latin name? what colour are it’s petals? does it have a scent? what shape are the petals? can they write the name of the plant?
