LondonI have lived in London now for 14 years and throughout that time I have explored stints (very short stints) of living outside of London. Every time, I have come home, to the home of London. People who live in London spend their life complaining about the ‘lack of space’ ‘the house prices’ ‘expensive’ ‘people everywhere!!!’ You move out of London and everyone is talking about ‘how quickly they can get back into London!!!!’ There must be reason for that….

I remember a friend telling me exactly why London was so totally awesome when I was having my doubts after having my 3 boys, I look at what she wrote me every day and I now feel like the luckiest person, every day, for living in such a truly magic and wonderful city…so for all of those fellow Londoners who have moments of doubt, regret, worry about living in England’s capital, here are 20 things to make you think you are the luckiest person to be walking London’s pavements and seeing the wonders of this incredible city.

This is why lexi loves London:

  1. The fact that anything goes…be it a furry hat or a duck outfit, no one on the tube would bat an eye lid!!! You are free to be the person you need to be.
  2. The endless possibilities and potentials. The feeling that today anything could happen. Classes, courses, clubs, book groups…the fact that they are just there.
  3. The river thames and watching the sun go down
  4. London pubs, grubby or too posh for words!!!
  5. Richmond Park (deer, parrots, dragons and dinosaurs!!!!)
  6. Natural history museum. The V&A, the science museum, the list is endless of all the London attractions I still want to see…
  7. Going to the theatre, opera, plays and gigs…art openings…street busking….the guy playing the keyboard on the tube…
  8. The local pond, and the swarm of local cafés!!!
  9. Red buses, Porsche counting, planes!!!
  10. Celeb spotting
  11. Kew gardens, the wetlands centre…
  12. Charity shops galore, notably fara!!!
  13. Babycinos, Italian style coffee shops and people watching….
  14. Posh nosh for dinner with the hubby or a girls shing ding!!! Sushi sushi sushi!!!
  15. Walking out the front door and dropping a child at school and meeting a friend…
  16. Shops!!!!
  17. Jumping a train to the seaside!!!
  18. Being 15mins to the m4 or m40, and an open ticket to the south of England, family, friends…
  19. Heading off to meet a couple of good girlfriends for a glass of vino down the pub, or even a lemonade and a natter….to put the world to rights…
  20. A multi coloured world…
