Ok so, I like to think we all share the same dilemma as parents, in wanting our children to eat more vegetables and healthy food!!! Or maybe I just stand alone in this!!! However, I do think there are always fun ways of encouraging healthy eating, and the more the children are involved in making it the more they are likely to have a go at eating it!!! Well that’s my theory anyways!!! Let me know if you experience otherwise!!!

what you need…veg face

  • tortilla wraps
  • cream cheese or humous
  • red pepper
  • mushrooms
  • cucumber
  • carrot
  • cheese
  • cheese grater
  • knife

what to do…

  1. prepare all the ingredients – slice the cucumber and mushrooms and pepper; grate the cheese; cut the carrots into batons
  2. spread the cream cheese or humous onto the base tortilla wrap
  3. find your cucumber eyes and place onto wrap, carrot nose, pepper mouth, mushroom ears, cheese hair and place all onto the tortilla wrap
  4. discuss the different features of your face and what they all do!!!
  5. now work out how to eat it!!! (I’m still figuring it out!!!)

then into a little dream adventure…

  • explore more fun healthy eating activities, make a vegetable pizza, fruit kebab, animals using vegetables and fruit
  • reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle, ‘Oliver’s vegetables’ by Vivian French
  • maybe go down to the garden centre and find some vegetable seeds to plant in the garden, always so fun seeing the vegetables grow and encouraging little children to care for their plant by watering it and then picking its produce, and then eating it!!!
