This is more like a little science experiment, looking at the effects the sun has on the tomato fruit over several days, and how with the change of appearance come, a deepening of colour and a completely different taste too. We love making sun-dried tomatoes, not only is it fun watching this little experiment take place, there is also an incredibly delicious outcome at the end of it!!!!

into a little dream adventure…

  • think of other fruit you can dry in the sun to snack on or add to cooking or cakes, maybe lemons or limes, or mango…what is growing on the plants around you?! figs? strawberries? have a wonder round the garden and see…it can be applied to nearly all fruit, with delicious sweet consequence!!!
  • add your sun dried tomatoes, to a yummy salad, or squeeze them into you bbq’d burger, or crumble some feta over the top and a drizzle of olive oil on baguette!!! yum…
  • if you don’t have sunshine, you can also always pop your tomatoes into a low heat oven to get a similar desired effect!!!
