what you need…stars

  • 150g plain flour
  • 25g rice flour
  • 100g butter
  • 50g caster sugar
  • bowl
  • rolling pin
  • baking tray
  • star cutter
  • icing pens
  • smarties

what you do…shortbread-stars-3

  1. heat oven to 150c
  2. add the flour and rice flour to a bowl
  3. add the butter and rub it into the flour with finger tips until it resembles fine bread crumbs
  4. stir in the sugar
  5. knead the mixture into a dough
  6. on a floured surface roll out the dough and cut star shapes into it
  7. place star shapes on baking tray
  8. press smartie down firmly into the centre of each star
  9. pop in the oven for 8 minutes or until golden brown
  10. leave to cool
  11. once cool, decorate with icingshortbread-stars
