These are possibly the most easy of mince pies to make…with little children longing to get baking this Christmas time, keep things simple and don’t stress yourself out by making the perfect mince meat or the best pastry. I believe that’s why ‘ready made’ was made!!! so we can actually enjoy the experience with our children. Without the pressure of endless ingredients, bucketfuls of patience and the need to basically do it all ourselves, when primarily you are hoping to offer a child lead baking experience of which children generally like to see quite quick results otherwise their concentration can leave you at the word go!!!

what you need…

  • ready made short crust pastrymince-pies
  • a jar of mincemeat
  • round pastry cutter
  • star pastry cutter
  • muffin baking tray
  • flour
  • rolling pin
  • spoon

what to do…

  1. preheat the oven to 200c
  2. roll out the short crust pastry onto a floured surface
  3. with the round pastry cutter press down into the pastry and fill the base of the muffin tray, pressing down into the bases
  4. take a spoonful of mincemeat and fill each pastry case
  5. using the star cutter press down into the pastry and then place on top of each case to make your mince pie and press down lightly
  6. place in the oven for 10 minutes until golden

into a little dream adventure…

  • you could jolly it up a bit with using different shaped Christmas pastry cutters for the top of each mince pie if you have
  • these would make the perfect little gift for a Christmas tea party or gift to a friend, why not gather a selection of mince pies and wrap into cellophane and tying with ribbon and completing with a little glitter gift tag (as seen in previous post!!)
  • ooooooo and remember, the first bite of your first mince pie is always a chance for wishing!!! lets hope those wishes come true this Christmas
