Sometimes, sometimes…if you dress up as spider man and stand on a chair in the larder for long enough searching for snacks, you might just come across some life changing ingredients!!! wibbling and wobbling our way into 2018 with some fun with Jelly.

what you need…

  • scissors
  • jelly
  • 285ml boiled water
  • 285ml water
  • jug
  • spoon
  • jelly mould

what to do…

  1. cut up the jelly squares with scissors, or tear with fingers and place into a jug
  2. carefully pour boiled water into the bowl and stir to dissolve the jelly (please note adult assistance is a definite during this process, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED
  3. once all the jelly has dissolved, pour the cold water into the bowl and combine
  4. pour into the jelly mould and place in the fridge to set

into a little dream adventure…

  • can you explore descriptive words that best suit the touch, smell, taste, and process of making the jelly…squishy, wobble, wibble, squash, rubber, dissolve, liquid, yummy
  • can you assist your child in writing down a list to accompany the descriptive words, thinking of letter blends and words that rhyme with one another
  • whilst making the jelly, introduce the classic song ‘Jelly on a Plate’
  • think of other experiments to do, or ingredients that might dissolve when added to one another
