Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the gingerbread biscuits making their warming appearance at our tea time table…
what you need…
- 350g plain flour
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 125g butter
- 180g light muscavado sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp golden syrup
- bowl x2
- wooden spoon
- rolling pin
- cutters (stars, hearts, gingerbread men shapes)
- greaseproof paper
- baking tray
what to do…
- put oven on at 170c
- add the flour, bicarbonate of soda and ginger into the bowl
- rub in the butter until the mixture resembles bread crumbs
- stir in the sugar
- in another bowl beat the egg and golden syrup together
- pour into the mixture and knead until a dough is formed
- roll out dough on a floured surface and press in cookie cutters
- place shaped biscuits into baking tray
- place in oven and cook for 12 minutes until golden
- leave to cool and decorate as desired…
