A sweet friend of mine, offered me a refreshing glass of water a couple of months back, and in it popped a couple of ice cubes which at second glance had a segment of lemon frozen inside….I thought this was genius!!! not only did it make for a stylish drink but added a delicious twist on a usually, lets face it, boring glass of water!!! It also gave the water such a yummy flavour (that made me immediately think, ‘gin and tonic’ and how this would be the perfect accompaniment ice cube!!!) Alcohol aside, i realised you could go about making a whole range of flavoured ice cubes to pop in your water to quench your thirst in the hot summer months that children would love…

what you need…

  • lemons or strawberries or cucumber
  • water
  • ice trays
  • freezer

what you do…

  1. slice up your chosen fruit or vegetable
  2. place a segment into each section of the ice tray
  3. pour water over the ice tray till it is full
  4. place carefully in the freezer until completely frozen
  5. add to your water for a refreshing flavour…
