then into a little dream adventure…

  • sing this lovely rhyme while you are rolling up the puff pastry

‘rolly polly up up up, rolly polly down down down, rolly polly ever so slowly, rolly polly stop’

you can use your arms in a rolling action to support the rhyme for a more visual display!!!

  • rather than using cheese, maybe try pesto or nutella, encouraging your child to spread onto the puff pastry
  • having made your puff pastry snails, line them up and use them for counting, maybe supporting this idea by singing ’10 little snails sitting on the wall…’ (instead of the usual 10 green bottles rhyme) each time eating one which means you go down one number, encouraging early maths development
  • go looking for snails in the garden…where are they hiding? recognise their shell and antennae, that they leave a silvery trail wherever the go…that their shell is fragile and their skin is black and squidgy like a slug. maybe have a snail race!!! do the snails move fast or slow?
