So today, in my little fred’s music class, they were singing all about animals. From pigs to chicks, to ducks to worms. I think my most favourite song and props of the class had to be the sock hand puppet of ‘wiggly woo’ the worm.
what you need…
- a sock
- a couple of buttons
- a needle
- and thread!
what to do…
- find an old child’s sock (you know you have heaps of odd socks lying about!!!)
- choose two coloured buttons and place them at the toe of the sock
- taking your needle and thread, sew them on to represent the eyes
- then pop your puppet over your hand, and there you have it!!! Wiggly woo!!!
then into a little dream adventure:
- go into the garden, can you see any worms??? One acre of land can contain around 1 million worms
- there are around 2700 different types of worms, how many different worms have you come across!!!
- the bump along the worms skin is called a ‘saddle’, can you find it on a worm?
- read the books, ‘The adventures of Lowly worm’ by Richard Scarry, ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson, ‘The empress and the silkworm’ by Lily Toy Hong
- enjoy singing this song with your little ones
There’s a worm at the bottom of the garden,
and his name is wiggly woo,
there’s a worm at the bottom of my garden,
And all that he can do,
Is wiggle all day and wiggle all night,
The neighbours say, what a terrible fright!!
There’s a worm at the bottom of my garden,
And his name is Wiggly,
Wig Wig Wiggly,
Wig Wig Wiggly Woo….
